About Me

Strangely, trying to put in to words who I am and what my purpose behind venturing into blog land is, has been more challenging than all the researching on how to do it, setting up my site and developing content combined.
The truth is, as I slide into the last weeks of my 49th year, I really have no idea who I am. By fifty, I truly thought I would. I thought I would more than just know, I thought I would be empowered and confident in who I am and the life I made for myself. Over the years I really thought I was getting somewhere, until reality slapped me in the face a half dozen times and said “eerrtt try again.” I’m not even sure people who I love, work with or am associated to, know me. Or maybe they know me better than I know myself. Maybe all of them just sit back observing, thinking “oh shit, she’s heading down to No Good Ville again, abort, abort, somebody better stop her!” I feel this way particularly of my lifer peeps, those who have stuck by me train wreck after train wreck.
Who is this Red Robyn? Obviously, Red is an alias because, well, this world is bat shit crazy right now and this is my pathetic attempt to secure my identity for five minutes. Yes, I know all you cyber sleuths and techies out there have already hacked my bank accounts. Have fun with that last twenty bucks of mine. Red is a common nickname given to most redheads and so it seemed fitting. Friends and family, let’s avoid calling me out in the comments and blowing my cover until I get a little more comfortable with this okay?
Attributes
- I swear too much, so consider this fair warning. My Dad taught me everything I know. Disappointingly, just this past year, even he mentioned I might want to dial it back a little to which I said “fuck that.”
- I am overly blunt to the point of unintentionally hurting people.
- I am unfiltered (see above), nor is my face suitable at a poker table or in a business meeting.
- I love really big, and I hurt more big.
- I cry when I am really angry. Actually I cry a lot. My preference is to laugh. Good deep down belly laughs that make me lose my breath, then bark like a seal trying to catch it.
- I live in the “dawning of the Age of Aquarius” and though I am not into witchcraft I do think there is validity in astrology.
- I love animals more than people and I don’t care what humanity thinks about it.
- The song “She Will Be Loved” by Maroon 5 has resonated with me since its release in 2004. I also think Adam Levine should lower his standards for one day and be with me so I can lick him from stem to stern.
- My favourite movie is Dead Poets Society and Robin Williams was a gift.
- I am devoted to music and inspired by great song writing.
- The four major food groups should be mashed potatoes, pizza, Thai green curry and cheese.
So what business do I have throwing my thoughts and life experiences out into the universe? Honestly, it’s something I am doing for myself. It will serve as an outlet for me to clear my mind of some of the clutter that paralyzes me at times. It will be free therapy, for me, by me - though I am very grateful for the sessions I have paid for. My sincerest of hopes is maybe, one day, a post I have written finds its way into the sight of someone, who at that very moment, just needs to see it. Someone who can relate to a few words, giggle quietly, shed a tear or realize for a split second that they are not alone.
I shall sign off with a little saying floating around social media that sums up my what I want to find though this online journey:
“When the girl who waves at babies, smiles at strangers, treats everyone with kindness, and makes everyone feel included says she’ll never find love - she is the love.” - Unknown
